Moroccan Rug Trends for 2022

Moroccan Rug Trends for 2022

After spending the last few years in Morocco, their traditions and culture are definitely unlike any other place I've seen, but it's certainly worth immersing yourself in. For instance, their traditional Berber rugs are a staple of their culture—so much so that they have been recognized around the world as iconic art pieces that represent a whole country. So when I was asked to write about what trends we can expect from Moroccan rug for 2022, I instantly jumped at the opportunity. Keep reading to learn all about this topic!

Faded Colors

Faded colors have a soft, romantic feel. They're perfect for rooms that are meant to be relaxing and serene. They'll also work well in your dining room or kitchen, adding an air of sophistication.

Hues such as blush pink, dusty red, and rusty brown work best when paired with neutrals like black, white, and gray. This way you can create a clean look without being too boring or harsh on the eyes! Since faded colors are so soft and pretty it's easy to go overboard—make sure that everything else around them is equally as muted so it doesn't look like a crazy mishmash of color schemes!

Distressed Look

The distressed look is a wonderful way to corporate Moroccan rugs into your home decor. It’s also one of the biggest Moroccan rug trends for 2022.

The distressed look can be seen everywhere, from modern boho to Bohemian style, and it's quite popular in interior decor as well. There are several different ways to achieve this look: some people prefer to put their favorite vintage Moroccan rug, while others like to buy rugs that already have some signs of wear on them. Whatever method you choose, the idea is simple: either get yourself a vintage Moroccan rug or you can always purchase a new rug and make it appear older than it is by using tricks like staining or fraying fabric edges.

Geometric Shapes

Geometric shapes are the most common motif in Moroccan rugs, and they can be used to introduce a bit of harmony into any living or working interior.

A Moroccan geometric rug, as the name suggests, is a thick, cozy floor covering with a geometric pattern in the design. These geometries take the form of wobbly lines, "V" shapes, diamonds, and others that ultimately represent the lifestyle of the rural Berbers. Some rugs use varying lengths of yarn or cut techniques to create such patterns. Other geometric designs take a more daring approach, combining numerous colors and patterns to create patterns that are appropriate for both formal and contemporary environments. You have some lovely alternatives to pick from, whether you want a design that is imperfectly tribal or one that is distinctly produced by color.

Abstract Style

The current decorating trends highlight pattern in a variety of forms, one of which is the Berber abstract style. From intriguing patterns and weaves that reflect rural Moroccan Berber locations to imperfect abstractions of different Berber qualities and entities. The yearning for genuine, natural materials persists, while the search for environmentally responsible alternatives yields some genuinely remarkable results.

The Berber abstract style is inspired by the dwelling nature that often depicts the peoples' perspective of their nature and rural environment the most. The pattern consists of imperfect shapes and illustrations in a variety of colors, including the most unexpected ones, which create some visually appealing illustrations that tell magical stories—a must-have for any modern space!

The Benefits of Moroccan Rugs Include:

• They can be used indoors or outdoors. They can be placed on your patio, under a dining table, or even inside your living room as an accent piece!

• They're easy to clean because they don't shed like other types of wool rugs do, making them great if you have pets in your home (or want to get one). Plus they repel dirt quicker than traditional wool carpeting!

• How do I get one you may ask? The best way would be through an online rug shop so it will arrive right at your doorstep! If that's not possible though then there's always Moroccan Bazars where sellers sell both contemporary and vintage pieces at reasonable prices all around so there'll be something perfect for everyone regardless of their budget constraints.

The change in tastes for rugs is definitely showing a trend towards brighter colors, more intricate designs, and a feeling of being inspired by nature. The most interesting trend to me is the shift in popularity from the traditional geometric patterns to the newer ones which are much more abstract. This might just be because these designs have been around since ancient times when they used them on their rugs or other textiles but it’s nice to see something different than what everyone else has already seen so many times before.
